Students, families, and friends are invited to continue their learning and show their support on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the Orange Shirt Day & National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event taking place at the Confluence Historic Site.

Our School Survey

Each year students in the CBE complete the OurSchool Survey. Fairview students will start completing this survey next week and will be wrapping it up around the middle of October. For more information, please see the attached letter that was sent in the weekly email.

School Council

We are excited to invite you to our first School Council Meeting on October 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, held in person at the school. School councils play an important advisory role, ensuring that parent and community perspectives are reflected in school decision-making. They also help share information about the school with the wider community. This is a wonderful opportunity to be involved and have a voice in your child’s educational experience. We look forward to seeing you on the 14th!

*Please note the date change for this meeting

Reporting Student Absences

Our office is especially busy first thing in the morning and at the end of the day. To help us manage attendance smoothly, we ask that parents report student absences by either calling the attendance line or sending an email—just one method is needed. To access the attendance line, phone the school at 403-777-7900 and press 1 to reach the attendance line directly. If 0 is pressed for the office, you may be asked to call back and leave a message on the attendance line. Using one method of communication helps us avoid duplication and ensures attendance is recorded quickly. We truly appreciate your support with this.

Prayer in School

At Fairview School, we are committed to supporting the diverse faith practices of our students. In previous years, students have been able to access a supervised space for both Dhuhr prayer at lunch and Asr prayer during class time.

This year, we are able to continue providing a supervised space at lunch for Dhuhr prayer. However, we are not able to offer a supervised space for Asr prayer during class time, as teachers are not available to supervise during that time. AR3067 - Religion in Schools requires that prayer spaces be supervised by a teacher, which guides this decision.

As in previous years we are asking that you please submit this online form to provide permission for your child to access the prayer space. Also, we are asking students to arrive for prayer within 15 minutes of the assigned time to align with supervision of the space. Prayer Request Form

Extended Absences

All students missing 5 days or more must complete an Extended Absence form prior to their first day of absence.  Parents/guardians must remember that they are responsible for the child completing the necessary school work while they are away. Please print and submit the attached form if you are planning an extended absence. You can also google “Extended Absence Form CBE”.

Bussing:

If your child takes bussing please be aware that the school does not have any additional information about the location of busses than what is found on the app. We request all parents please sign up for the app through: www.mybusstop.ca . The code to register for Fairview Bussing is CBESD8GDT8.

We are aware that bussing is has been challenging early this year. Again, the school does not create or assign bus routes. Any concerns or questions should be directed to CBE Transportation. Their email is: transportation@cbe.ab.ca
