Fairview School – Weekly Update – March 31 – April 4
To streamline communication with families, moving forward, we will be posting a weekly message on Sunday evenings. You may still receive grade and/or event specific messages via School Messenger, D2L or Google Classroom.
Important Dates:
· March 31 – classes resume
· April 10- Fun Lunch from Chopped Leaf
· April 18 – Good Friday, no school
· April 21 – non-instructional day, no classes
Next Year Registration:
As we plan for the 2025-26 school year, we need families to advise the school as to whether they are moving out of Fairview School. Only those families not planning on attending Fairview in the 2025-26 school year need to respond. Those families not planning on attending Fairview in the 2025-26 school year need to email the school at fairview@cbe.ab.ca with your students’ name, current grade and where they will be attending in the 2025-26 school year.
Students Praying at School
We sent out a note earlier this week with updated information about students accessing prayers during school time. We have attached that note to this email. Please click the link to update the information about prayers. Student Prayer Request Form
Weather Reminder
Reminder that spring weather can be unpredictable. Students need to come to school prepared.
Athletics:
Badminton tryouts will begin this week. Tryouts are as follows:
Tuesday, April 1st, 7:30 - 8:50 AM – GRADE 9
Tuesday, April 1st, 4:00 – 5:30 PM – GRADE 6
Wednesday, April 2nd, 7:30 – 8:50 AM – GRADE 9
Wednesday, April 2nd, 4:00 – 5:30 PM – GRADE 6
Thursday, April 3rd, 7:30 – 8:50 AM – GRADE 7 Girl’s only
Thursday, April 3rd, 4:00 – 5:30 PM – GRADE 8
Friday, April 4th, 7:30 – 8:50 AM – GRADE 8 Boy’s only
Monday, April 7th, 4:00 – 5:30 PM – GRADE 9
Please remember to drop off or pick up your students at the specified time. Late drop offs and pickups impact coaches practice time and personal time. All of our coaches volunteer their time to provide your student with the opportunity to participate in athletics.
Fairview Parent Advisory Council Updates:
· April 8 - Council Meeting 6:30 pm sharp. This meeting will be ONLINE. Meeting link will be added at a later date.
Extended Absences
All students missing 5 days or more must complete an Extended Absence form prior to their first day of absence. Parents must remember that they are responsible for the child completing the necessary school work while they are away. Please print and submit the attached form if you are planning an extended absence. You can also google “Extended Absence Form CBE”.
Traffic Safety:
Please obey all posted traffic signs for drop off/pick-up and parking. Do not park in the city bus zone. For student safety do not U-turn at the crosswalks on Fairmount Drive.
Bussing Information:
We urge you to sign up for the appropriate bus tracking apps if you want more information. Unfortunately, at the school we do not have any additional access to information about bussing than you can get from the apps. Directions on how to register for the Southland and First Student Apps have been sent to parents. Currently, TransDev does not have an app that you can use. For TransDev, you can call the following number: 587-349-6652
Student Drop off and Pick Up
Please remember that our front doors do not open till 8:50am. The areas outside of the school are meant for drop and go. You should not be parking for any length time. Students are to be picked up promptly by 4:00pm. Should you be picking up your student at the end of the school day and need to advise the student of pick up, please do so before 3:30pm Monday to Thursday or 1:15pm on Fridays.
