Fairview School – Weekly Update – November 25th-29th, 2024 

To streamline communication with families, moving forward, we will be posting a weekly message on Sunday evenings. You may still receive grade and/or event specific messages via School Messenger, D2L or Google Classroom.  

Important Dates: 

  • November 28 – Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences, 5pm– 8pm, In-person, BOOKED ONLY 
  • November 29 – Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences, 9am – 2pm, Online, BOOKED ONLY 
  • December 5th – Grade 7-9 Instrumental Music Concert @ Le Roi Daniels 7pm 
  • December 6th – Grade 4 Music Concert @ Fairview 12 noon 
  • December 6th – Grade 6 Music Concert @ Fairview 2pm 
  • December 12th- Grade 7-9 Choir and General Music Concert @ Fairview 7pm 
  • December 20th-Last Day of Classes for Students 
  • January 6th- First day for Students after the winter break.

  • Henry Wisewood High School Open House – November 28th. Please see their website. 
  • Reading Challenge – November 1st to December 20th

 

Winter Weather Reminder 

Reminder that the weather has changed and we are now in winter. Students should come to school prepared to be outside. The board policy is that students will be outside unless it is –20C or below. This could include time after school waiting for the bus.  

 

Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences 

Reminder that Conferences will be held on November 28th (in-person at the school) and 29th (online). For interviews on the 29th you will receive a link from conference manager closer to the date. Booking for appointments has now closed and if you wish to book an appointment you will need to reach out to the teacher. Also, some parents signed up with teachers that do not currently teach their students. Those appointments will be cancelled by the teacher. Please review your appointments before the day of. Athletics: 

Only parents/guardians and siblings (supervised by parents/guardians) may attend our basketball games.  All other visitors/spectators will be asked to leave.  This is due to limited space and safety for our basketball players.

Fairview Parent Advisory Council Updates: 

  • December 10 - Council Meeting 6:30 pm sharp, ONLINE.  Link will be sent out prior to the meeting 

 

Extended Absences 

All students missing 5 days or more must complete an Extended Absence form prior to their first day of absence.  Parents must remember that they are responsible for the child completing the necessary school work while they are away. Please print and submit the attached form if you are planning an extended absence. You can also google “Extended Absence Form CBE”. 

 

Traffic Safety: 

Please obey all posted traffic signs for drop off/pick-up and parking.  Do not park in the city bus zone.  For student safety do not U-turn at the crosswalks on Fairmount Drive. 

 

Bussing Information: 

As we move into the cold winter months, there may be increased delays with bussing. We urge you to sign up for the appropriate bus tracking apps if you want more information. Unfortunately, at the school we do not have any additional access to information about bussing than you can get from the apps. We have attached the directions on how to register for the Southland and First Student Apps. Currently, TransDev does not have an app that you can use. End of Day Student Pick Up 

Should you be picking up your student at the end of the school day and need to advise the student of pick up, please do so before 3:30pm Monday to Thursday or 1:15pm on Fridays.
