Welcome Back to Fairview School!
Welcome back, Fairview! I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and had an opportunity to rest, recharge and enjoy time with family and friends. We are very excited to welcome students back to school this Monday and begin a new school year together.
The start of a new school year brings excitement and possibility—new classes, new teachers, new friendships and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. Our staff have been working hard to prepare for the year ahead, and we are looking forward to seeing our hallways and classrooms filled with students again.
Before Monday
Families can expect to hear from their student's homeroom teacher later today. Homeroom teachers will be reaching out to welcome students to their class and provide some additional information to help everyone feel prepared for the first day back.
New Staff at Fairview
This fall, the CBE has welcomed hundreds of new teachers, education assistants and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes.
We are very pleased to welcome these teachers to our school community! The addition of staff will help provide students with increased teacher attention, improved classroom learning environments and greater support for diverse learning needs.
Administrative Regulations That Guide Our Work
As we begin a new school year, I also want to highlight two CBE Administrative Regulations that help guide the work we do at Fairview: AR 6031 – Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments and AR 6006 – Progressive Student Discipline.
AR 6031 outlines expectations for maintaining a school environment where students and staff are welcomed, treated with respect and able to learn and work safely. AR 6006 provides a framework for responding to student behaviour when it does not meet the expectations outlined in the CBE Student Code of Conduct. It supports clear expectations, student accountability and consistent responses to behaviour.
Together, these regulations provide a framework for maintaining a safe, respectful and positive learning environment. We encourage families to take some time to review these regulations as we begin the school year.
Most importantly, we want students to know that Fairview is a place where they are known, supported and able to learn and grow. Creating a positive school community is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the partnership of our students and families.
We are looking forward to a great year ahead and to welcoming everyone back to Fairview on Monday!
Welcome back, Fairview!
