Principal Absence
Please be advised that Principal McCoag will be away from April 28 to May 2. We welcome retired Principal, Bruce Johnston to Fairview in Ms. McCoag’s absence. Any questions or concerns may be directed to our Assistant Principal, Mike Ross.
Next Year Registration
As we plan for the 2025-26 school year, we need families to advise the school as to whether they are moving out of Fairview School. Only those families not planning on attending Fairview in the 2025-26 school year need to respond. Those families not planning on attending Fairview in the 2025-26 school year need to email the school at fairview@cbe.ab.ca with your students’ name, current grade and where they will be attending in the 2025-26 school year.
Students Praying at School

Weather Reminder
Reminder that spring weather can be unpredictable. Students need to come to school prepared.
Athletics
Badminton practices are as follows:
Grade 6 – Monday PM (4:00 – 5:15pm) and Thursday AM (7:45 – 8:50am)
Grade 7 – Tuesday AM (7:30 – 8:50am) and Wednesday PM (4:00 – 5:30pm)
Grade 8 – Tuesday PM (4:00 – 5:30pm) and Thursday PM (4:00 – 5:30pm)
Grade 9 – Monday AM (7:30 – 8:50am) and Friday AM (7:30 – 8:50am)
Badminton tournaments will be held at James Fowler High School. The dates are as follows:
May 1, 2025 – Grade 9
May 6, 2025 – Grade 7
May 8, 2025 – Grade 8
May 12, 2025 – Grade 6
Please remember to drop off or pick up your students at the specified time. Late drop offs and pickups impact coaches practice time and personal time. Our coaches volunteer their time to provide your student with the opportunity to participate in athletics.
Fairview School Council / Parent Advisory Updates
The yearly Annual General Meeting will be held on May 13, 2025. This meeting includes the summary of the year, and elections for all positions for next school year. The meeting will start at 6:30pm sharp and be held at the school.
Extended Absences
All students missing 5 days or more must complete an Extended Absence form prior to their first day of absence. Parents must remember that they are responsible for the child completing the necessary schoolwork while they are away. Please print and submit the Extended Absence Form.
Traffic Safety
Please obey all posted traffic signs for drop off/pick-up and parking. Do not park in the city bus zone. For student safety do not U-turn at the crosswalks on Fairmount Drive.
Bussing Information
We urge you to sign up for the appropriate bus tracking apps if you want more information. Unfortunately, at the school we do not have any additional access to information about bussing than you can get from the apps. Directions on how to register for the Southland and First Student Apps have been sent to parents. Currently, TransDev does not have an app that you can use. For TransDev, you can call the following number: 587-349-6652
Student Drop off and Pick Up
Please remember that our front doors do not open till 8:50am. The areas outside of the school are meant for drop and go. You should not be parking for any length time. Students are to be picked up promptly by 4:00pm. Should you be picking up your student at the end of the school day and need to advise the student of pick up, please do so before 3:30pm Monday to Thursday or 1:15pm on Fridays.
