Inclement Weather

Students will continue to go outside for lunch and PE unless there is heavy rain, temperatures are below -20°C, or air quality is poor. Please ensure your child comes prepared for the weather each day. This may mean raincoats and rain boots on wet days, or warm jackets, hats and mittens when temperatures drop!

Away for the Day Cell Phone Policy

Reminder that students are expected to keep their cell phones in their locker at all times of the school day. This includes smartwatches, gaming devices, and earbuds/Bluetooth devices.

Reminder: TLC Student Uniform Expectations

We have noticed that some students have not been following TLC’s uniform expectations. We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of our dress code requirements and the expectations for each day of the week.

Mondays – Formal Uniform Day Students are expected to wear:

  • Plain black dress shoes with no additional colours.
  • Navy dress pants or a quilt
  • A white collared dress shirt worn under a TLC cardigan.
  • A tie.

Tuesday–Thursday – Regular Uniform Days Students are expected to wear:

  • Black shoes with no additional colours.
  • Navy dress pants or a quilt.
  • A collared TLC shirt (golf shirt or long sleeved shirt).

Fridays – Alternating Fairview Fridays and Casual Days

  • Fairview Fridays: Students may replace one piece of their regular uniform with a Fairview-branded clothing item. For example, students may wear a Fairview-branded hoodie instead of their collared Fairview shirt while keeping the rest of their uniform in place.
  • Casual Fridays: Students may wear school-appropriate clothing of their choice. Sweatpants are permitted on casual days only and are not permitted on regular uniform days or Fairview Fridays.

Additional Reminders

  • Hats and hoods must not be worn inside the school at any time.
  • Uniform expectations apply throughout the school day, and we ask that all students come prepared and dressed appropriately for the day.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a consistent, respectful, and positive school environment. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that all students follow TLC’s uniform expectations.

Upcoming Events

Pumpkin Carving / Fall Art Pieces

We will be holding a pumpkin carving and fall art contest. If your student would like to participate in the pumpkin carving, your must purchase your own pumpkin. Please ensure it is a size that the student can carry comfortably on their own. If they ride a bus, the pumpkin should be able to sit in their lap. Pumpkins are to be carved at home and brought into the school on October 26th (no sooner, no later). Please ensure your student writes their full name and homeroom on the bottom of their pumpkin.

We are also accepting fall art pieces, which will be displayed around the school. Again, please ensure the artwork is labelled with your student’s full name and homeroom.

Grade 6 – YMCA Calgary Memberships

Through the support of the Calgary Flames Foundation, all grade 6 students have an opportunity for a 13-month free YMCA Calgary Membership. All students who had photos taken, have a student ID card that was given to them when the photo proofs were delivered to the school. They can use these ID cards as proof that they are in grade 6. Please see the following link for further information:

Healthy Hunger

Healthy Hunger is supported and run by our Parent Advisory Council. The restaurants and dates have been posted and you are now able to prepurchase Healthy Hunger meals for your student(s). If you do not currently have a Healthy Hunger account, you can set one up through the following link:

https://healthyhunger.ca/

Please remember to complete your purchase once you’ve put items in the ‘cart’. You are able to preorder for the year if that is easier for you. If you prepurchase a meal and your student is absent that day, you can call the school on the day of the event, before 10:00am, to arrange for pickup at the office. If you cannot pick the meal up by the end of the day, it will not be refrigerated and will be thrown out. Any meals without an alternate pickup arrangement by 10:00 am will be given to students who need lunch.
